Plymouth’s 17th Annual Folk & Blues Festival is a two-day event featuring stars from Vermont and nationally known musicians. The 2022 lineup includes Jay Ottaway and the Ramble, The Speckers, Sarah King, Craig Bickhardt, Alastair Moock, and Reggie Harris.. The concerts are free; donation is suggested. The President Calvin Coolidge State Historic Site, with Liz and Dan Faiella, will host a Grace Coolidge Musicale on Sunday, August 28 at 3:00 p.m. The Faiellas will bring to life the traditional music of their roots, with crisp vocals, mesmerizing fingerstyle guitar, lyrical fiddling, and exhilarating rhythmic drive. Their music calls to mind the convivial grange hall contradances of their youth in New Hampshire, while conveying a wistfulness for their ancestral Ireland.
Members of the Vermont Antique Gas and Steam Engine Association will be on the grounds from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM to showcase a variety of historic engines and demonstrate how they worked and what they were used for. Stop by and ask your questions.
Join us for this century-old town tradition! Reenactment of Calvin Coolidge’s “Homestead Inaugural” at 2:47. Wagon rides, chicken barbecue, traditional crafts demonstrations, and “Clara’s Games” - historic children’s games organized by the Vermont Historical Society. Event runs from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
Green Mountain Timekeepers Society members are in residence on the Chimney Point porch from 12:00 to 4:00 PM to keep time and talk with you about the history of your clocks and watches and how they can be repaired. Bring your old clocks and watches or photographs and learn more about your timepieces. Clock repair demonstrations throughout the afternoon.
The July 10TH Grace Coolidge Musicale will feature pianists Abigail Charbeneau and Susan Cobb. The program of classical duets will be presented on the historic Grace Coolidge piano, gifted to her by the Baldwin company, and famous for being the first piano flown in an airplane. The afternoon will include music by Schubert (Marches Militaires and Fantasy in F minor), Debussy (Petite Suite), and Gershwin (selected songs). Concert from 3:00 to 4:00 PM.
Selected as a “Top 10 Summer Event” by the Vermont Chamber of Commerce! Calvin Coolidge is the only U.S. president born on Independence Day, and this year is his 150th birthday! At 12:00 Noon, the Vermont National Guard leads a march to the cemetery where a wreath from the White House is placed at the president’s gravesite. Afternoon activities include tours of the historic village, birthday cake, wagon rides, Stringfield Springers old-time string band, traditional craft demonstrations, and children’s games. The event is free; admission is charged to tour the historic buildings. Hours for the celebration are 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Organized by the Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation and Vermont Division for Historic Preservation.
Celebrate our nation’s most enduring symbol with flag history presentations and flag-making activities for children and adults from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.
