Bring your pre-schooler to enjoy story and craft time at Chimney Point. Topics relate to the history of Chimney Point and may include archaeology, bridges, boats, clocks, post offices, or light houses. A parent or responsible adult must be with the child. Ages 3 to 5. Guided Landscape Painting with Watercolor and Gouache

Artist Lillian Kennedy shows you how to stay fearless and serene during the creative process while you make a small Lake Champlain landscape painting. She will explain the fundamentals and demonstrate options. You’ll have plenty of room for individual expression. Take home a painting and the skills to continue on your own. You will learn the tricks to make a painting kit that fits in a baggie that you can carry with you on all your travels. Drawing Sanctuary Workshop

Artist Lillian Kennedy offers this special workshop. We start by making pocket sketchbooks from a single sheet of paper and then explore the museum and surrounding landscape with pencil and eye. Exercises in seeing, expressing, and technique will be shared as you learn to draw for the joy in seeing/ feeling/expressing without judgment. Blast from the Past: How to Weed Your Attic

Archivists Elizabeth H. Dow and Lucinda P. Cockrell are experts in residence on the Chimney Point porch to advise you how to weed your attic. They will share their insights, and then are available to give you advice. Bring your questions or items you have questions about. Copies of their new book, How to Weed Your Attic: Getting Rid of Junk without Destroying History, will be available for purchase.
