Vermont’s Historic Sites provide young and old with the opportunity to step back in time, learn how a state and nation were formed, and understand how the victories and challenges faced by our ancestors are not so different than those faced today. The answers we are seeking to the questions today can often be found by retracing our footsteps.
We strive to accomplish this every day – with the help of our supporters - through programs, events, exhibits and well maintained buildings and properties that capture the imagination and make the past come to life.
100% of your donation will go directly to updating and expanding site exhibits, creating educational programming and lectures, and enhancing our museum collections. Your support will ensure that generations to come will connect our past to the present and future; creating a love and respect for where we have been and where we may venture to.
There are many ways to support Vermont’s State Historic sites, including:
- Check, cash or credit card
- Stocks and securities
- Property or tangible goods (we are always interested in adding to our historic sites’ special collections)
- Bequests and other planned gifts
- Volunteering your time
- All gifts to the State Historic Sites special fund are tax deductible according to law and will be acknowledged promptly.

Vermont State Historic Sites are wonderful places to volunteer your time and engage your enthusiasm for Vermont’s history. If you have a few hours a week and would like to play an integral role in support of our historic sites, we encourage you to consider volunteering to preserve and share Vermont’s history.
Every year, more than dozens of volunteers, ranging in age from junior high school to retired seniors contribute hundreds of hours to Vermont’s State Historic Sites. Their contribution of time, energy, skills and wisdom is priceless.
The opportunities to volunteer are varied, from gardening and carpentry, to helping conduct our family programs and special events. For those who prefer indoor projects, we have administrative and office tasks, research projects, retail sales and merchandising, and even the chance to work archiving special collections.
Volunteers are integral to our State Historic Sites and we offer great benefits, including free admission to all our State Historic Sites statewide and an annual recognition event. Please note you must be 16 years or older to volunteer. If you are interested in volunteering please fill out the application and return it either by U.S. mail to the address at the bottom of the application. For more information, please call 802-828-3051.
