Civil War historian Howard Coffin, and Vermont State Curator David Schutz, will join us for a community reading of Frederick Douglass's fiery 1852 speech, “The Meaning of the Fourth of July to the Negro.” The reading will take place in the historic North Fairfield Church. Refreshments to follow. In collaboration with the Bent Northrop Memorial Library, and the Vermont Humanities Council.
